About Me

 My Mission:

  • Inspire senior & super senior women golfers to embrace the game boldly and visibly

  • Celebrate golf as a lifelong sport—for fun, fitness, and friendship

  • Support the next generation through fundraising for First Tee of Greater Philadelphia

At an age when many start to slow down, Penny Bristow is doing just the opposite — she’s picking up speed, packing her clubs, and setting out on an unforgettable journey. This fall, Penny is launching “Penny’s 65@65 Challenge”, a personal challenge to play 65 different golf courses in the year after she turns 65. But it’s not just about the scorecard — it’s about making every swing count.

Through 65@65, Penny is raising funds and awareness for the First Tee of Greater Philadelphia, a youth development organization that empowers kids through golf. “I want to support the next generation,” Penny says. “I wish that I had learned the lessons that First Tee is teaching earlier in my life. Golf has given me so much — self-understanding, community, and joy — and I want to pay that forward.”

Her goal? To raise at least $6,500 — one hundred dollars for each course she plays — while promoting golf as a welcoming, rewarding sport for women, especially those who, like Penny, are finding their swing later in life. She’s turning her year-long celebration into a movement, encouraging others to support, share, or even join her on the course.

Penny’s home base is Union League Golf Club at Torresdale in Philadelphia, but her challenge will take her across Pennsylvania, throughout the U.S., and maybe even to the Old Course at St. Andrews. With a handicap index of around 19, she plays twice a week, takes regular lessons, and embraces every round with grit and good humor.

When she’s not on the fairway, Penny is tending her backyard chickens, coaxing tomatoes from her garden, or spending time with her husband, two grown daughters, and two adoring grandkids.

Oh — and she’s hard to miss on the course, thanks to her signature purple hair.

For Penny, 65@65 is more than a milestone — it’s a mission. “This is about showing up for yourself, no matter your age. It’s about giving back, trying new things, and chasing joy one round at a time.”

She will be sharing rounds, highlights, lowlights, birdies (and bogeys!), and progress throughout this journey. If you’re inspired, please consider supporting First Tee by making a one- time donation or pledging an amount for each par or birdie scored. You will find updates here on her website and on her Facebook page
